Share reading
time with child I encourage all parents to share their love of reading with children as early in their life as possible. Just a few minutes of reading every day while putting the child to bed or having breakfast establishes the habit of getting meaning from print, which is the foundation of early literacy development in children.

Learn more about your child’s day at school Do you want to know more about your child’s day in school? Help them focus and remember some of the day’s learning activities by asking guiding questions. Be specific to help get the dialogue started. For example, ask them to tell you about a story they shared in class, what they did in math or if they did any writing. Share any positive school experiences you have had with them.

Stress more than academics Help your children to build a solid foundation academically; but in addition, help to build their self esteem, so they may realize they are worthwhile human beings.
